Brooklyn's Lion In The Mane Rapture The Audience @ Mid East Downstairs Performance

April 25, 2016

Brooklyn's own Lion In The Mane made an indelible impression on concertgoers last night when they took the stage at a sold out Mid East Downstairs where they supported The Spill Canvas. They had an insatiable stage presence, and an extremely melodic charge right out of the gate that captivated me right from the start. Frontman Jon Masters is much like his last name, taking on guitar, vocals, and bass while delivering an onslaught of rhythm and energy to the surrounding area. Andrew Lynch contributes backing vocals and guitar, all while his flowing locks bounce around the that are much like the band's namesake too. Everything about these guys speaks volumes about their character, grit, and determination as musicians looking to do all the right things in front of a frenetic audience. The guys have a pop/rock sound that is more leaning on the alternative side with catchy choruses, strong musicality, and the ability to make the audience part of the act that is an essential and key component for any live act to master the art of. These guys were the first thing I saw literally right as I walked in, and I was enthralled with their set from the beginning, from the catchy guitar licks that I fell over hook, line, and sinker, to drummer Johnny Coryn and his glimmering shirtless bod with indelible drum beats that had the whole place on fire, Lion In The Mane are definitely worth your while if you want a break from the ordinary.
