Cincy based power rock quartet The Tigerlilies are bringing along a hard edged attitude with them on their brand new single "Shipwrecked". The song echoes the late 70's glam rock movement with elements of David Bowie and The Buzzcocks instilled deep within their consciousness to give their music a retro feel, but still incorporate some modern elements for good measure. These guys were a little different than what I normally listen to, but they have a strong and unified musical presence that I was initially drawn to and made me feel comfortable with what was to come. A lot of bands sometime get too mired in the songs from the past, and try to recapture that past spirit and magic that seems too artificial, but The Tigerlilies are able to cross timelines and still look towards the future while trying not to get too immersed with retro nostalgia. A very enticing act that is definitely worth a listen.
