NYC based indie rockers The Dig are prepping for a big headlining show happening tomorrow night 2/23 @ Great Scott in Allston. The band are starting to turn heads and gain name recognition in various circles for their unique style and musical flare that is certainly most evident when you check them out live, but still packs a furious punch when you hear their music also. I myself was largely unfamiliar with these guys, but they definitely have their own musical identity that is most prominent in person, and their music is mostly based upon an indie minded framework that seems to continue to evolve as you listen to it, giving the songs a multi faceted approach and their own base for which to work off of. It's great to see bands not adhering to the status quo and always go against the grain of what is expected of them, and that is exactly what The Dig are doing and are forging their own musical reality that is existing right before them and is beginning to take them to places that they've always dreamed of.
