Allston based indie-psych trio Today Junior are back at it again with their brand new single that just came out this past Friday titled "Hot Plastic". The song is a mellow, easy going affair with Harry O'Toole's harmonic vocals and gorgeous red hair starting off the song with remarkable aplomb, the fierce drum work of his brother Mike that sets the edge and allows the bros to balance ideas off one another, and the terrific bass work of Anthony Ambrose that always comes in handy in the clutch, and sets the backdrop for the tune so that the listener can take stock of it right away. I've been best friends with the boys for years going back well over a decade, and they have become like family to me along with the plenty of good conversations I've had with Mike and Harry over the years, and they've been great company as well and are a shining example of a local band that has cut their teeth, and stayed true to their sound all this time. Many bands deviate greatly from their sound, but Today Junior have stayed true to who they are as brilliant musicians who know how to make a lasting impact on the listener. A chill as hell track that offers up a great escape from the heat.
