Boston indie-alt duo Rival Island are coming off the heels of a recent show at Great Scott last week along with the likes of Bloom and Driveways that really brought their sound home to the masses. The band have a real knack of creating indelible hooks that are dormant in the background, but come to life after repeated listens where their real magic and musical pedigree manifests itself right in front of you. Frontman Tommy Flynn and drummer Joe LaMonica have been at this project for a few years now, and they seem to be crafting their own image that goes against the standard of what an upstart band should sound like, and that's what most incredible about these guys is that they don't adhere to any one formula, they just stick to what they know best to get their musical mission across. If you haven't checked out their video for "Start Again", please do so from up above as the clip sees the band performing at a talent show, along with a special cameo by Barstool Sports own Jared Carrabis as a judge in what is most certainly a hilarious and refreshing clip that presents the act in their own light just kicking back, having fun, and living out their dream of being in an act that is drawing more people as time goes along. A refreshing, undiscovered act that is most certainly worthy of your time.
