Grand Rapids, MI based indie masters Pretoria are back at it again with their brilliant, summer primed single "As If". The song is their most balanced tune to date, with sonically layered instrumentation and mind blowing rhythms that build up right until the very end. The song is vastly different from some of their past singles that they put out, and puts a strong emphasis on the structure of the song and further accentuates the band's ability to really dig deep and show off their depth individually as musicians. The band consists of Rob Gullett on bass and lead vocals, Josh Bilisko on guitar, Ben DeWitt on drums, Matt Burdick on guitar, and Matt Pavlock on guitar. The guys have been mainstays here on the site since 2019 when I first featured them with their "Cape Town" EP, along with a couple of interviews on my podcast along the way as well. The boys have been practically family to me with the guys continuing to blow my mind each and every time they put out a single. This song allows you to see and unearth a different facet of the band that is stunningly beautiful, and is a benchmark of the band's ever growing catalog. An immensely alluring track that will have you immediately replaying it over and over.
