NYC based new-wave revival trio State Street are set to make their debut in Massachusetts on July 1st when they grace the stage at Deep Cuts in Medford. The trio consists of Bobby Gioiosa on lead vocals and guitar, Matt Wikstrom on rhythm guitar, and Stephen Dorris on drums. You may remember them from the write-up I did on them a couple of months back promoting their debut single "Ocean Blonde". The band just released a follow up single "Surrender", and the guys are ready to take their melodic and bombastic indie pop sound to the masses and directly into my hometown of Medford. You may remember Bobby and Matt from their prior outfit Start The Week Over which was a little more pop-punk leaning, but State Street has that gleaming and optimistic indie-pop tone that really elevates them as musicians, and allows them to challenge themselves more in the long run. I've been very close friends with Matt for many years dating back to when I first him at a NU hockey game, and I'm so elated and proud that he's still chasing his musical dreams that are leading to something special that we're witnessing right now.
