The famed Reykjavik Calling festival will be returning to The Middle East Downstairs this coming weekend for what is sure to be a epic celebration of all things related to Iceland, but most importantly the music. Sample some of Iceland's famed vodka drinks while enjoying the music of Kaleo, Beebee and the Bluebirds, Love in Stockholm, and George Knight with Pablo Palooza. This is actually part of a five day event that starts on Thursday and also includes: an Icelandic film festival, a tasty menu at Tavern Road, and a sustainability panel on the latest innovations in energy. Plus, the mayor of Reykjavik will be on hand at the concert so there will be definitely be a bevy of festivities to keep you occupied! I had the opportunity to attend the festival last year, and it was definitely a worthwhile experience that really allowed me to appreciate the breadth of talent emanating from Iceland that much more, and also familiarized myself with the different genres of music from that little piece of volcanic rock out there.
