Dallas, TX native and Berklee alum Troy Cartwright will be making a much anticipated return to the Boston area next Thursday Nov. 10 when he plays a solo gig at Loretta's Last Call, right on Lansdowne St. just steps away from Fenway Park. Troy has been a long time friend of mine, going back 4 years when he was first featured as an Artist Spotlight and the interview I did with him as well around that time. His sound is down home country with a pitch perfect voice that evokes everything about his Southern upbringing and that good old fashioned charm that works its magic on just about everyone he meets. His music mostly touches upon relationships, and that youthful and ponderous reflection for those good old days that are seemingly lost in the distance as we all grow older. As I've said before, I got the opportunity to hang out with Troy at The Record Company in Boston back in 2012 when he was putting together a live album there. We spent in between sessions with his other friends having a makeshift pizza party along with some beer and it was just so casual, laid back, and I really bonded immensely with Troy and it really felt special to be included in that project they were doing. An immense talent that is definitely worthy of a check over.
