Boston's own pride and joy The Novel Ideas have just announced that they're extending their album release tour of their brand new, self-titled effort. The second half of the tour will kick off locally on October 6 at The Village Inn in Egremont, MA which is the only local date on the itinerary, before the trek heads out to the Midwest in Iowa, the Rockies in Colorado, and hitting the West Coast in California, before extending to the Northwest in Oregon and Washington. The group have been one of the unheralded treasures as of late, with their raw folk sound garnering comparisons to The Avett Brothers, and joining the local pantheon of local acts who have gone on to have a deep impact beyond the confines of their hometown area. The guys have been featured numerous times on the site all over, and just when I think I've loved them to the full, they go on and release more beautiful and poetic tunes like "Lost On The Road", which you can find on their latest which just goes to show you how much more emotional depth and musical wisdom the group have obtained over time. An immensely deep and punctuating local act that is most certainly required listening around these parts.
