Boston based punk blues collective Dead Trains are gearing for a big EP release show happening on Mon. 11/27 @ Great Scott, alongside the likes of The Rough Cuts and Witch Cake. The trio of Matt Axten, Natan Keyes, and Steve Olson have been an obsession of mine with their unusual mixture of punk and blues that really cuts to the core of their brilliant creativity as musicians when they jam together. Getting an opportunity to see them play live at The Wonder Bar a while back, it really hit home for me how well these musical styles mash together, and you can see the constant bouncing of ideas off one another that really gives these guys an added advantage over all of the other local acts out there. What they do best is give fans something that they weren't expecting, and just adds to the water cooler talk type of fare that is present after the show, buzzing about how incredible and unrelenting they are. You'll definitely see some emotional fireworks be lit when they take the stage at Great Scott, who are simply an unstoppable force in this scene.
