Boston Bruins Player Music Special

With the Bruins knee deep in their second round playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning, I'd thought it would be a good idea to do a music special entirely devoted to the boys in black and gold. The Bruins have had a tremendous year, going 50-20 and finishing second in the Eastern Conference standings and proving a lot of naysayers wrong in the process. The team is still anchored by long time veterans Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron, and young newcomers like Jake DeBerusk, Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk following in the steps of Brad Marchand and David Krejci. With an emerging star in David Pastrnak, there is no shortage of talent in this roster. This music special accurately reflects the energy, drive, determination, and grit that is omnipresent up and down throughout this team and helps the guys as they take on the ice and move towards their ultimate goal of capturing the Stanley Cup. Here are the music choices for the B's chosen by yours truly:

Adam McQuaid - Florida Georgia Line "Round Here"

Kicking off this special with defenseman Adam McQuaid and an unorthodox music choice in some country courtesy of Florida Georgia Line. My personal favorite Bruin, McQuaid is highly regarded as a top notch defender, who has plenty of scars showcasing his battles on the ice which definitely makes up the true pedigree of a hockey player. Adam has been a consistent presence on the ice, and his experience being in the playoffs and Stanley Cup finals before makes him the perfect equalizer when he's out on the ice.

Brad Marchand - Ace Hood "We On"

Next on the list is the primary antagonizer and bully on the team, Brad Marchand with his song choice of Ace Hood's "We On". To say that Marchy is a bit of a troublemaker would be a huge understatement as his antics have gotten him in trouble with the league, leading to fines and suspensions along the way. But in the long run, since he is wearing the spoked B on his chest, he is our guy and always comes through in clutch offensive situations when we need him the most. Despite his penchant for licking opposing players in the face, there's no other guy we love and respect more for being the emotional heart and soul of the team.

David Pastrnak - Arkells "Knocking At The Door"

Next is up on the list is David Pastrnak with his song pick of Arkells "Knocking At The Door". Pasta as he's affectionaly called by B's fans has been a tremendous and unstoppable force on the ice since arriving in Boston a few years ago. Rewarded with a huge contract extension this past offseason validates the front office and team's truest in him, and his growing stature as a superstar in the making.

There's no other guy that is a role model and defines a true hockey player with his chipped tooth and full-on tattoo sleeves making him one of the star attractions on the ice in the playoffs.

Jake DeBrusk - Zayde Wolf "Born Ready"

Next up on the list is the young 21 year old up and comer Jake DeBrusk with my song pick of Zayde Wolf's "Born Ready". Originally hailing from Edmonton, Jake has settled in nicely and has become one of Boston's own rather quickly with his tremendous speed, and immense puck awareness on the ice that has allowed him to come through in some clutch situations, most notably the go-ahead goal in game 7 on the First Round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. His squeaky clean good looks and unending willingness to learn more is only the beginning for Jake, and he is definitely near and dear to the hearts of many Bruins fans.

Zdeno Chara - Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Rounding out our special is our Captain, the big Z with his throwback anthem to the 90's grunge era in Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit". There's nobody who defines what it is to be a Bruin better than Zdeno Chara, and at 41 years old we start to wonder if this will be his last postseason as a Bruin. But that thought is largely in the back of our minds as we continue to marvel at his abilities that continue to develop and get more pronounced as time wears along. Whatever holds the future for Zdeno is anyone's guess, but we are all here to marvel at his talents and hoping he closes out his career hoisting the Stanley Cup.
