Originally from the Great Lakes region of NH, but now based in Boston comes the country/folk stylings of Katie Dobbins, who released her sophomore record just last month titled "There Is Light". Katie's sound is a pure, rich blend of country and folk melodies juxtaposed upon Katie's brilliant vocal prowess that explodes off the canvas immediately as you begin listening to it. I was really impressed with Katie's talents from the start, and she brings that old school country sensibility to light albeit in a more modern setting that makes listeners stop and take notice. What I like most about Katie's sound is that it's not an immaculately produced effort with all the bells and whistles, it's a very modestly arranged effort that does a great job of accentuating Katie's talents in a very simple way that will most certainly grab the attention of listeners looking for something different. A marvelous talent who will be making big waves for sure this year and beyond.
