Somerville based Americana duo Jake Swamp and The Pine are beginning to build a buzz with the recent release of their brand new, self-titled EP. The effort is a warm, inviting affair with lush acoustic guitar arrangements and a gravelly vocal interlude that really makes you feel relaxed, at ease, and ready to experience the magic right in front of you. The duo consists of Stuart Babcock and Drew Zieff, and they bill themselves as "two dudes with 1 beard and 14 strings", which is a genius tagline and really makes the group that much more authentic from an aesthetic perspective. Deep down, their music strikes to the heart of what Americana music is all about, with some hints of The Avett Brothers but with their own unique twist and identity that makes everyone stop and take notice of the sheer beauty and talent omnipresent right in front of them. My heart is definitely beating faster because of these gents, and they will definitely leave a lasting impression on you by the time you're finished listening to them.
