Today for Artist Spotlight, we head on over to Kalamazoo, MI where we encounter the folk infused sounds of Greensky Bluegrass! The band consists of Anders Beck on dobro and lap steel, Michael Arlen Bont on banjo and vocals, Dave Bruzza on guitar and lead vocals, Mike Devol on acoustic bass and vocals, and Paul Hoffman on mandolin and lead vocals. The band's sound is a crisp, refreshing blend of indie folk influences inspired by the likes of The Allman Brothers Band and enstilled with the bluegrass influence of The Avett Brothers to create a sound that is all their own and one that is representative of their influences growing up. You wouldn't expect a bluegrass act to come out of the state of Michigan, but there is definitely something to be appreciated from these guys and they really bring an old school musical sense that is extremely rare to come by these days, plus they do it with such remarkable musical aplomb that it's almost impossible not to be amazed at what these guys exhibit on stage with their tremendous musicality that will open your eyes as to what's laying right outside of your musical window.
