Woodbury, MN based indie rock sensations Hippo Campus are set to open for Saint Motel when they pass through town next on October 19 @ Royale in Boston, just steps away from the theater district. Hippo Campus have been an obsession of mine over the last few months with their indelible indie surf rock vibe working wonders for anyone who has come into contact with them, sort of resembling a love child and offspring of Vampire Weekend. The guys are remarkably young and straight out of high school, but they are talented way beyond their years and their sound is some of the most potent and swooning indie rock that I've heard in quite some time. When I saw them at The Mid East Downstairs back on May, I was completely dumbfounded at what I was witnessing onstage that was beyond musical comprehension and was one of the most riveting and compelling sets that I could ever recall witnessing. I'm in love with these guys completely, and it's only a matter of time before everyone else gravitates towards these ridiculously good looking and marvelously talented gents.
