Boston based pop-punkers Paper Hearts wear the flag of the pop-punk genre loud and proud, and was elquently displayed during a recent show just last week at PA's Lounge in Somerville. I caught wind of that performance online where I was enthralled of the authenticity and explosive melodic blasts that were permeating through my speakers. The band consists of Tyler Hamilton on vocals and guitar, Jeff Gustus on lead guitar and vocals, Ben Ayer on bass, and Isaac Hiller on drums. From their most recent EP "Portrait" that came out back in 2015, you can tell how much the sounds of Brand New and Taking Back Sunday inspired the group to achieve such greatness and adopt a take charge attitude that manifests itself well throughout their music. I grew up on a steady diet of pop-punk through the years, and hearing them takes me back to the days of church hall shows where the spirit and enthusiasm of pop-punk was everywhere and hard to escape from. Seeing the same drive and determination from those bands as I see in Paper Hearts, these guys are definitely well on their way of achieving something special with their music that makes your heart beat a bit faster, and create lasting memories with those you care about that will last a lifetime.
