With the final days of summer ticking down, the feel of Fall and pumpkin spiced everything is settling in and that means it's time to look ahead at the albums that you'll be streaming to your heart's content pretty soon with my Fall 2025 New Music Preview. Fall is the time of year where artists release albums in droves in the hope that they'll creep up on people's year end Apple Music replay or Spotify Wrapped lists that will give them some satisfaction knowing that they made an impact on listener's lives. This year is no exception as a flurry of new acts releasing highly anticipated debuts, along with a flurry of pop-punk heavyweights like The Starting Line, Yellowcard, and All Time Low returning to let their fans know that they're not even close to being finished yet. And without further ado, here is this year's new music preview:

sombr - I Barely Know Her (Aug. 22)
NYC based indie-pop artist sombr is gearing up to release his highly anticipated debut album "I Barely Know Her" this Friday 8/22. If you don't know who sombr is, you're clearly living under a rock as he has been flatout dominating with his single "Back To Friends" recently spending 5 weeks at #1 on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart and gaining nearly half a billion streams, along with his follow up single "Undressed" that is quickly gaining momentum all over the place. This album includes all of his previously released singles along with some slower tempo tracks that show the full musical depth and creativity that is exploding at the surface. sombr is not a flash in the pan talent, he is a true creative force that has demonstrated some staying power and has clearly struck a nerve with listeners worldwide.

Backset - Vol. 1 (Aug. 24)
Hawaii based surf-rock outfit Backset are set to make their mark on listeners with their highly anticipated debut release out next week. The group is fronted by Gabriel Goes whom you may remember as a contestant on NBC's "The Voice" a couple of years back. Since then, he's been busking on the island of Oahu and yearning to make enough money so that he can quit his tourist job and focus on his one true passion: playing in a band with his closest friends. The effort includes the previously released singles "Where Did You Go?" "Divine" and "Watah Man" along with some others that you'll fall head over heels for, and make you want to grab a mai tai with these handsome and talented fellas who know how to bring out the best in everyone that they come in contact with.

mehro - Weirdthrob (Sept. 9)
LA based indie newcomer mehro is gearing to release his debut album to the world on September 9th. mehro has been gaining steam with his singles that he released earlier in the year "You're So Pretty" and "Lifesaver", but one song that he released just a couple of weeks ago called "Sepia Tones" has been just blowing people away. He wrote that song last year just before he took the stage for an Elliott Smith tribute concert, and he wrote the song as a homage to Elliott for the huge impact and influence that he's had on him as a songwriter. It moved me almost to tears, and he has this mysterious aura around him that's comforting and is an extremely deep thinker along with his gorgeous good looks that make him a presence that is only going to get bigger as time wears along.

The Starting Line - Eternal Youth (Sept. 26)
Philly pop-punk legends The Starting Line are gearing up to release their first studio album in 18 years next month titled Eternal Youth. The band have come back in a big way with their first single "Sense of Humor" bringing back that nostalgic, early 00's pop-punk feel and the second single "Circulate" showing a darker edged, frenetic sound that shows a deeper side of the band that we haven't seen before. On the heels of their first headlining tour in almost 20 years, Kenny Vasoli and the guys aim to show fans that they never left, and are ready to pick back up right where they left off and bring back the sounds of yesteryear along with the promise of the future that made the guys who they are and the little band that could.

Yellowcard - Better Days (Oct. 10)
Jacksonville, FL pop-punk legends Yellowcard are back with their first studio album in nearly a decade called Better Days. The band have gone on hiatus multiple times and have returned sporadically over the years through the various trials and tribulations that the band have gone through, but the band have always stayed true to their sound and who they are musicians. Their trademark violin courtesy of Sean Mackin has always remained constant, along with lead vocalist Ryan Key keeping the engine flowing and the pop-punk flag flying high. The title track from their forthcoming release is ripping up the charts, and showing that the guys are getting their second wind and are nowhere close to being through, and in fact have gotten better with their emotional maturity that they've gained from their various life experiences that is fueling their creative desire.

All Time Low - Everyone's Talking! (Oct. 17)
Baltimore pop-punk natives All Time Low continue to deliver the goods on their brand new studio release titled Everyone's Talking! The band's sound has quietly evolved over the years and has matured gracefully into a more dynamic indie-pop blend that has not pigeonholed the band and has made them age gracefully like a fine bottle of wine. The band surged most recently a few years ago with their song "Monsters" that tied the record for 3rd most weeks spent at #1 on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart at 18 weeks, and have reinvented and redefined themselves as a band that are more than willing to step outside their comfort zone, and take fans along a ride that has been equal parts exhilarating and satisfying at the same time.
